SARS has introduced eDNA as a security measure in order to minimise the risk of fraudulent transactions as well as to safeguard taxpayer information. This entails that your fingerprints will be captured and authenticated when visiting a SARS branch for certain services.

Situated in the third largest city after Johannesburg and Cape Town, the Durban branch in KwaZulu-Natal receives over 3000 taxpayers per day during Tax Season (1 July – 31 October). Staff at this branch is predominantly fluent in isiZulu, and the branch experiences busy times between 08h00 and 11h00 and between 15h00 and 16h00. With no parking at this branch, taxpayers are welcome to use municipal metered parking just outside the branch in Dr. Pixley Kaseme Street (formerly West Street) and there are surrounding buildings with undercover parking that can also be used for this purpose.
